Pathways to Employment

Getting the right information at any time about any subject can be a stressful process. Who do you contact? Which websites do you look at? HELP!

If you’re looking for a pathway or route to take into a selected career or job Eyes Wide Open is there to help you.

You may need to complete qualifications or courses before you even start applying for positions. You may require some experience in a chosen field and voluntary work is the only option to gain this experience.  Where do you go to get the right information about the right course for you? Who can help with regard to voluntary placements?  You need to see a career professional. Someone who is impartial and will give you options on courses and locations.

You may decide to go to your local college to seek advice, but remember your local college may not want to refer you to a college four miles away, even though that college meets your requirements and offers a course best suited to your needs.

All career professionals should be impartial. When choosing a career adviser, guidance worker or coach, ask one question, who pays their wages?

We at Eyes Wide Open offer a completely independent and impartial service. We would meet with you and discuss your situation and how you have come to decide on the career or job you’ve identified. We would check that this course of action is appropriate and realistic. If it isn’t then it is our job to discuss alternatives. If the position identified is realistic we would work together to plan the pathway to achieve your goal. If further research is needed to identify the correct pathway then we would complete the research and email you the results. This is all part of the service.

If through discussion we identify any barriers or issues that may prevent you achieving your goals then we are here to help. For example an individual may be apprehensive or nervous about going to an identified college to enrol on a course. They may have negative memories of education. If this issue was identified, then we at Eyes Wide Open would be willing to go with an individual as a professional friend and ease the process.

Please remember that this service is available to all age groups.

If you are a parent of a child in Year 9 who is about to choose their options, and feel that more input from a career professional is required, contact Eyes Wide Open.

If you are a mature person, returning to employment or requiring a complete career change, contact Eyes Wide Open.
