Career coaching and guidance

The process I use when working with clients is simple;

  • We meet
  • I listen
  • I make an assessment of your needs
  • I make you aware of your options
  • You listen
  • We review all that has been discussed
  • You make well informed and realistic decisions

Perhaps that is too simplistic. There will be a period during our first meeting where trust is gained. We have to respect each other’s views and be honest at all times. Occasionally I will challenge your issues, concerns and motivation, but this is part of my role. By working together at a pace that suits you, goals will be achieved.

I am here to be a ‘sounding board’ for your career ideas and dreams as well as your fears and apprehension. I will help you reflect on decisions you have made before, regarding previous careers and employment. I will make you aware of all your options, and how these may be achieved.

During discussions I often ask clients what their dream job would be if I could wave a magic wand. Many clients start their answer with ‘don’t laugh but I always wanted to…………..’  I love this answer; many clients achieve what they always wanted to do, some don’t for various reasons, but through the journey of trying, every individual learns something.

For clients this process may take one meeting, it may take three meetings, or as in some cases, it is a longer process.

I treat each client as an individual, time is not a constraint, and I’m not chasing targets for Government funded projects.
